Watch or let yourself be watched. Who is the main character? Find it, become it, play it.
POV installation was a second light installation commissioned for Pleasure Control collective, this time for a two-night Copenhagen rave festival, Refractions, set in the ArtMaze venue. The overall theme of the festival was “side quest” as a phrase used within the late-night community for unexpected chores during night-out time. The installation contemplates NPC phenomena when one is commonly perceived by others as a preprogrammed visual background to another person’s reality. The ambiguity of the installation lies within personal view as one becomes the main character whilst being under the legendary computer game’s green diamond, while at the same time becoming the ultimate NPC to everyone else’s reality. The diamond visual dynamics was done with Arduino hardware and software, accompanied by LED strips providing contrasting ambient breathing glow of yet another unnatural computer game-esque colour of pink, also programmed through Arduino. Mylar strip serving as a tilted fake ceiling underlines the idea of various realities connecting the installation space with the neighbouring dancefloor. The diamonds have been constructed with the use of a laser cutter, many thanks to FabLab Nordvest.
